Chen Boqin lost both legs in an unfortunate drill press mishap at Machine Tool Factory # 3 back in 1973. Four years worth of millet-ball minimalist meals had made his depth perception a bit off-kilter.
He had learned to live with the two wooden legs though. He wasn’t ashamed.
He was, however, still very frustrated by the fact that even one glass of Tsing Tao made him too unsteady to walk home. The last time he had a beer with lunch, he tipped over on the way out the door. It was very embarrassing, to say the least.
Lunch could be so salty though. He couldn’t decide what to do.
